lesson learned

sometimes there are just some things you’re asked to do, that you just don’t want to do.  and it’s not about being unreasonable, unhelpful or the debby downer of the group – it’s just that you have no affinity to participate in these events.  i’m sure this happens to all of us.  and on any other day, you’d be right in saying no.  but if your presence brings a person you care about joy and brightens up their day, then i think a little self sacrifice is necessary.  sometimes it’s not about what you can get out it, but what you can do for another person.  ambivalence and negativity is instantly wiped out knowing how happy you’ve made someone else and let me tell you, it is such a great feeling and totally worth it.
